Large Alocasia 'Macrorrhiza'

Commonly known as the Giant Taro, or Upright Elephant Ears, this fat-growing plant is native to rainforests of Maritime Southeast Asia, New Guinea, and Queensland. With its jaw-dropping, vibrant green, ruffled leaves, the Alocasia 'Macrorrhiza', or the Giant Taro, gets its Giant name by having the largest un-split leaf in the world!
Being that it's from a tropical environment, it thrives in high humidity, warm temperatures, slightly dry soil, medium to indirect bright light and will grow up to 12 to 15 ft. tall indoors. This makes them great as statement plants in a brightly lit lobby, foyer, living room or other big space! Over time this plant may lose some leaves but don’t be alarmed, this is just a natural occurrence in the plant's life cycle as the alocasias prefer to have a few, very large leaves rather than many smaller leaves.
