Medium Alocasia 'Black Velvet'
Commonly known as the Alocasia Reginula (which literally means "Little Queen"), this easy-to-care-for plant is considered a rare miniature jewel alocasia, part of the aroid family, and is native to Southeast Asia, including Borneo. With its huge, heart-shaped black leaves, contrasting white veins, and its characteristic velvety texture, this bold plant is the true embodiment of "why try to fit in, when you were born to stand out"?
Being that it's from a tropical environment, it thrives in medium to bright indirect light, warm temperatures, high humidity, moderately moist soil and will grow up to 20 inches indoors. This makes them great to place on a desktop, bookcase, cubby or small nook in your home that is well-lit, but doesn't get direct light. If given enough love and light, it will bloom a flower! Over time this plant may drop some leaves, but don’t be alarmed, this is just a natural occurrence in the plant's life cycle as the alocasias are plants that prefer to have few, but huge leaves.
